At Chanukah, the Morris Winchevsky School (our secular Sunday school) holds a Chanukah party that is open to all.
At the Morris Winchevsky School we approach Chanukah as we do other Jewish holidays: from a secular and social justice perspective. We retell the story of the Macabees, exploring historic struggles within Jewish communities and the meaning of resistance then and now. The MWS students perform a Chanukah shpil – a performance piece based on the themes of Chanukah. There are games and activities for all ages, candle lighting, sufganiyot (doughnuts), and of course, latkes! Hot and cold beverages will also be available. Bring a dish for a fabulous potluck lunch.
$5 per person, $15 for families
Morris Winchevsky students are free.
