At Chanukah, the Morris Winchevsky School (our secular
Sunday school)
holds a Chanukah party that is open to all.

At the Morris Winchevsky School we approach Chanukah as we do all other Jewish holidays: from a secular and social justice perspective. We retell the story of the Macabees, exploring historic struggles within Jewish communities and the meaning of resistance then and now.

This year, due to the pandemic we will be holding our Chanukah party online, so feel free to invite friends and family to sing along with us and watch the short performances our classes will prepare for the community. Song sheets will be sent closer to the date, along with more details and fun activities to try at home.

Traditionally we serve Latkes and Sufganiyot at our Chanukah Party. This year we invite each household to prepare a traditional holiday-themed dish! Below are some recipes from around the Jewish World!

Spinach and Feta Latkes:

We also invite all of you to bring your Chanukiyot/Menorahs as we will be doing a collective lighting in keeping with our annual candle dedication!

All are welcome.

This event is free, but donations are gladly accepted and appreciated. You can donate here:
