The United Jewish People’s Order is horrified and outraged at the murder of a Muslim family in London, Ontario on Sunday June 6. Our hearts go out to the 9-year-old survivor and his extended family at this time of great loss. While we are glad that this act has been recognized as a hate crime, we recognize that this is not a one-off. The intense Islamophobia that leads to such heinous acts is real and must be actively challenged. We call on all people to work against this kind of hate and bigotry and the white supremacy that fosters it. We stand in solidarity and grief with our Muslim friends, family and communities. When one of us is hurt, we are all hurt.
