The United Jewish People’s Order expresses our sorrow, grief, and rage at the killing of Daunte Wright, a 20 year-old Black man, by a police officer in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota on April 11, 2021. Our hearts break for Daunte’s family and friends, and for Black communities across the globe. Daunte’s death is yet another instance of Black death as a result of interactions with police. May his memory be a blessing and fuel for the movement against systemic racism and white supremacy and for a reimagining of public safety. We support and echo calls for a reallocating of police funds to programs to support the health and safety of all our communities.
