The Klezmer Kids in Concert
Celebrating the Launch of Toronto's Secular Jewish Community School

Saturday September 12, 2009
7:30 p.m.
Winchevsky Centre, 585 Cranbrooke Avenue

Winnipeg's vivacious The Klezmer Kids, a standing-room-only hit at the 2008 Ashkenaz Festival, return to Toronto for an exclusive Toronto concert. A vibrant group of eight teenage musicians, the Klezmer Kids spice up traditional klezmer tunes with humour and soul, and their repertoire includes lively arrangements of traditional tunes specially created by Winnipeg composers Sid Robinovitch, Glenn Buhr and Jeff Presslaff, and former Winnipeg resident Marilyn Lerner.

The group is joined by renowned klezmer clarinetist Martin van de Ven, a mainstay of the Canadian klezmer music scene for 25 years and a performer with the klezmer band Beyond the Pale.

Klezmer Kids leader Daniel Koulack -- best known as a member of Finjan and a Juno and Prairie Music Award nominee -- is one of Canada's foremost klezmer, folk and jazz musicians, playing violin, banjo, double bass, guitar and mandolin.

Advance tickets are $18.00; children/students (ages 5-18) are $12:00; or at the door $22.00 and $15.00. Reduced rates for members.

For reservations call 416-789-5502 or email info@winchevskycentre.org.
